DR. MEL LOEWEN NOTES THAT FROM THREE STUDENTS IN 1959, THE UPC now has over 7000 students in four departments of theology, business, law, and medicine. “The university seeks to graduate people competent in their profession with a personal commitment of Christ-like integrity,” he says, adding that the university’s modernized logo represents how UPC will continue to make a difference in a country of much chaos. With a slogan that embraces “Education that builds a nation,” the logo also incorporates symbols representing building blocks, a cross, and a book.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration of UPC was an exciting time with events throughout the week. A number of guests were present on campus for the occasion including: Dr. Mel Loewen and sons Jake and James, Dr. Ben Hobgood and his daughters Anne and Lucy, Dr. Lamar Williamson and his wife RuthMary, Frank Tas, Executive Director of the European Liaison Bureau.
